Candy Cane Flowers

Happy Friday! Today is the reminder post for The Flower Challenge. This month our challenge is to “Add Spots or Stripes” to our floral card.

For my card today I decided to use stripes with this beautiful rose from the Katzelkraft Flower set.

I started by stamping the Diagonal Stripes from Gina K on Bristol Smooth Paper and white heat embossed. I then used Distress Oxide in Spun Sugar and Festive Berries and blended it on top of the embossing powder for an embossed resist technique.

I stamped the roses on some Copic friendly paper with Copic friendly Amalgam black ink. I wanted to color something closer to a white winter rose, but it turned out a little more gray. I used C00, C0, C1, C3, and C5 for the rose and YG03, YG63, YG67, and G99 for the stem. I used some light gray and white colored pencils to soften the color a little on the flowers.

Once I was done, I traced the stamped image with a black pen and fussy cut them to attach to my background.I used the sentiment from the Crafty Emotions Christmas Gift set and white heat embossed it on some green cardstock. I added a little Pine Needles Distress Ink around the edge as well.
