Hello crafty friends!

And yes… there are prizes (keep reading 👇).

Here is my card to celebrate using some of my favorite Topflight supplies.

For my project, I wanted something layered, vibrant, and full of texture, because let’s be honest, birthday cards should feel a little extra.

Building the Background

I started with watercolor paper and created a rich, textured background using the Steampunk Soiree Magicals from Lindy’s Gang.

These powders never give you the same result twice, which is exactly why I love them. You get those unexpected color blends and organic textures that instantly make your background feel alive.

🌸 Creating the Focal Flower

While my background dried, I stamped the petals from the Tracy Scott 105 onto watercolor paper.

I painted them using Lindy’s Gang Magicals from the Victorian Bouquet collection:

  • Canna Lily Burnt Orange
  • Sweet Violet Purple Teal

The combination gives such a bold, dimensional look—perfect for a statement flower.

🖋 Adding Depth & Texture

Before assembling the card, I added another layer of interest by stamping the Sara Naumann 51 using Versafine Clair Twilight.

This step is one of my favorites because it subtly builds depth without taking away from the focal image.

✨ Finishing Touches

Once everything was layered, I did the following:

  • Assembled the flower for dimension
  • Added Hunkydory gems (because birthdays = sparkle ✨)
  • Included a birthday sentiment from Creative Expressions
  • Finished with a hand-drawn frame to tie it all together

💛 Why I Love This Card

This card is a perfect example of how layering simple techniques can create something really striking:

  • Fluid, organic background
  • Bold focal image
  • Subtle stamped texture
  • Just the right amount of sparkle

It feels celebratory without being overcomplicated.
